Ference feels progress being made with NHL’s support of LGBTQ+ community
Former defenceman and NHL director of social impact, growth and fan development Andrew Ference feels the league has progressed with its support of the LGBTQ+ community some months after it caught flak for banning theme-night pre-game jerseys after the refusal of a few players to wear Pride jerseys. The NHL, Scotiabank and Pride Tape hosted the Toronto Gay Hockey Association for the Pride Cup during the league’s all-star weekend. (Feb. 3, 2024)
