B.C. to fast-track funding for First Nations overseeing former residential school sites
The B.C. government says it will fast track funding to the 21 caretaker First Nation communities where there were residential schools or former hospitals. The government also appointed two First Nations liaisons to support caretaker communities as search for more remains continues. One of them is Charlene Belleau a former chairwoman of the Aboriginal Healing Foundation and former Chief of Esk’etemc First Nation.
