Chinese envoy praises co-operation on COVID-19, defends treatment of detained Canadians
Chinese Ambassador Cong Peiwu praised Canada's contributions to the fight against COVID-19 on Wednesday, including providing assistance to his own country. Yet he continued to defend China's treatment of Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, the two Canadians who have been detained for more than a year in apparent retaliation for the arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou.
