Initial escape by N.S. gunman came just minutes after first RCMP arrived
A man who'd already killed 13 people in Portapique, N.S., managed to escape the community just minutes after the first police arrived at the scene. Supt. Darren Campbell said Tuesday that Gabriel Wortman crossed a field in a replica police vehicle around 10:35 p.m. on April 18. That was just nine minutes after an RCMP cruiser arrived at the scene of murders and burning homes in the community.
