B.C. introduces heat preparedness, alert plans
B.C. says it is introducing a two-stage heat alert and response system to help people and communities stay safe this summer when temperatures rise. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says the system aims to warn and prepare people about the dangers of heat events and prevent a repeat of last summer's heat dome that resulted in almost 600 deaths, primarily among elderly and vulnerable people.
