Newsroom Ready: Trudeau says Emergencies Act helped RCMP clear blockades
Conservative interim leader Candice Bergen pressed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on remarks by RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki, who said the force cleared border blockades in February using existing legislation, not the Emergencies Act. Trudeau told Bergen that Lucki said the act allowed police to maintain a secure a perimeter, turn people away from the illegal protests and arrest those who provided food, fuel and other supplies.
