Abdi family devastated after officer found not guilty in Abdi's death: lawyer
Lawyer Lawrence Greenspon says the family of Abdirahman Abdi is devastated after Const. Daniel Montsion was found not guilty of manslaughter in Abdi’s death in Ottawa in 2016. But he said the family didn’t expect that the criminal justice system will be the way to resolve systemic problems including the challenge of dealing with people who have mental health issues. Defence lawyer Michael Edelson said Tuesday outside the Ottawa courthouse that Montsion is relieved after he was cleared of all charges.
