Newsroom Ready: Indigenous, non-Indigenous fishers describe tensions on N.S. waters
Tensions remain high in southwestern Nova Scotia after last week's outburst of violence by non-Indigenous people directed at a self-regulated Mi'kmaq lobster fishery. Indigenous fisherman Robert Syliboy says his hopes to peacefully harvest his catch have been repeatedly marred by racist vandalism and arson. Acadian fisherman Roger LeBlanc says non-Indigenous people remain anxious that adding more boats to St. Marys Bay will one day threaten their livelihoods.
