Stranded B.C. killer whale calf active in lagoon
A killer whale calf stranded for 12 days in tidal lagoon off northern Vancouver Island appears to be spending much of its time at the middle of the inlet, rising to the surface every seven to 10 minutes. Vancouver residents Francisca Barros and Ivisa Simunovic hiked to the edge of the lagoon and watched the drama unfold, seeing the orca calf surface near where they were standing. (April 2, 2024)
