B.C. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says the government recommends the city of Surrey continue with its transition to the independent police service rather than revert to the RCMP. Surrey’s council voted last fall to go back to the RCMP, but the province says in the interests of public safety, the city should stay with the current Surrey Police Service.
