Canada says talks to begin on compensating First Nations kids
The Liberal government appealed a Federal Court ruling that upheld an earlier decision ordering it to pay $40,000 to First Nations children removed from their homes because Ottawa underfunded child-welfare on reserve. Ministers say while paperwork has been filed, the parties will try and sort out a compensation package outside of court.
